People need to stay on top of their financial status and all of the issues that are involved with it. That is why there has always been a high degree of importance that has been placed upon being constantly aware of one’s credit so that one is always aware of what is going on with them from a financial standpoint. With the constant need to stay on top of all the issues regarding credit, people have continually sought out ways to be made aware of them. The free credit report is one such service that allows people to do just that and for a few lucky people of the United States well they are better equipped to do so.
The credit report is of course essential because of all the information that it contains and as such the free credit report really manages to meet a valuable need of the people. The fact is that free credit reports are actually available to the residents of United States once every 12 months. The free credits reports come from the three major bureaus that are concerned with people credit those being Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. There is however a rule that has flown under the radar that also gives people even more free credit reports and that is thanks to the FACT Act. These three free credit reports are actually more free credit reports that people from certain states can obtain for themselves.
The seven states that offer their residents three more credit reports from the same bureaus are Vermont, Maryland, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Georgia. The thing is though is that these additional free credit reports however are not widely known and the people from these states have been unable to fully take advantage of them. There has been little effort made to promoting the presence of these supplemental credit reports but they are nonetheless made available to the people from these states. Attaining them however does require a bit of effort from the people seeking them out.
The process of attaining these supplemental credit reports can be a bit different from the three original ones that are available to everyone in the United States. The basic first step though is similar for all three in that it will require the people seeking them out to contact the bureaus themselves and each one will have their own requirements for people to fulfill before they can go about getting their free credit reports.
