32Philadelphia – threat has become one of the primary secret weapons of collecting agencies to force their customers to pay up their debts. A lot has already been harassed by these debt collectors and their threats have made the borrowers mouth quiet. However, a local woman, who has been threatened by a lending company, is ready to shut the company down.

The woman, Seena Rosenberry, has been bugged by a lending company for weeks. She says she was very nervous when answering her phone and she also said that the said lending company has been calling and threatening not just her but also a few people who are close to her such as her sister, her tenant and even one of her friends’ ex-wife and daughter!

Seena explained that the lending company did not have her telephone number and so the company would call people associated to her and they would leave them voice messages which are troublesome and very much frightening. The debt that Seena was paying for was not even hers, it was, she said, her sister’s debt and when she made a call to the lending company about paying an outstanding debt, the collecting agent had a very bad attitude from the start of their conversation until the moment they end the conversation. She said that the collection agent has been threatening her with incorrect statements such as taking her house, filing a law suit against her and fining her with a very large amount of money.

Reports say that Seena was paying for a debt that she should not have been paying. It said that even though Seena was a holder of one of her sister’s credit cards she was not supposed to be paying for the debts on that credit card the moment her sister filed for bankruptcy because according to law, people who files for bankruptcy would no longer have any connections in paying for the debts they have made before they announced that they were completely broke.

Aside from not supposed to be paying the debt, she was not even supposed to be harassed by the lending company or by the agent because she is by all means protected by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and with the said reports, the lending company now faces charges for violating it.
The Fair Debt Collection Act has been known to protect consumers from unfair and overly forceful lending companies and debt collectors. However, a lot of people are still harassed by these collecting agents because only a few number of American consumer know its existence. Mark Mailman, the consumer protection lawyer, explained that the Fair Debt Collection Act prevents collecting agents and companies from any kind of abuse, unjustified and treacherous acts. Mailman is helping Seena fight against the collecting agent and the company and has her money returned to her.
