Identity theft is a very fast growing theft in America. It has become epidemic and is leaving every one at risk. It is leaving every person with either bad credit or no credit. The worst part is that a lot of people do not even realize that their identity has been stolen. Another misconception is that people think identity theft just affects the credit. It has a lot more disadvantages. There are basically five major types of identity theft.

The first one is Character identity theft. This happens when a person impersonates a customer and commits crime in his name. This will result in warrants issued in customers arrests made, name, as well as time spent in jail. The second type is Social Security Number (SSN). This happens when an individual obtains employment in the name of some other person. This will lead to a punishment regarding the wages earned by the thief. The third type is Medical identity theft. In this case, an individual steals the medical insurance of a customer. The thief may obtain treatment as well as prescription out of the medical insurance. The fourth type is Driver’s license identity theft. And the fifth type is Credit identity theft.
